    Welcome to the Halterworth Harriers’ website. We are a road running club based in Romsey, Hampshire, UK.

    Whether you are new to running and looking for advice on how to train or an experienced runner seeking to improve your performance then the Halterworth Harriers has something to offer you. With our relaxed and friendly approach to running we turn the monotony of training into an enjoyable experience and thus help you to stay motivated.  

    Harriers' training is a mixture of regular coached sessions and ad hoc runs organised by the members themselves. We meet on a Tuesday evening for interval training, focusing on speed and technique; during the summer this is held at the Mountbatten school grass track and during the winter on quiet well lit roads and pavements. These sessions are led by one of our UK Athletics trained Level 2 coaches, who are happy to discuss your individual training needs to ensure that you train in a safe and effective manner. There is also a regular club run at 7:30am every Saturday which varies from a few miles to quite a lot during marathon season but caters for all abilities.  

    Besides training we also compete in two local cross-country leagues (the CC6 and RR10) and in 2010 celebrated success in the men's team event for the CC6 winter league finishing first overall. Throughout the year many members also participate in a wide range of events from 5k to ultra-marathons. If you are aiming to complete your first event or your hundredth doing so with the support of a club adds to the enjoyment.

    It's a well documented fact that people who take up running often give up after a few months. Running with others helps to maintain your commitment, so by joining us you are taking the first step to making running a long term part of your life. 

    Halterworth Harriers is predominantly a running club. However, ask any member and they’ll tell you that the social aspects play a big part!

    We are very friendly, welcoming all ages and abilities. We usually run at a pace to allow plenty of conversation and also meet up at races or have a get together after a big race at a local pub.
